Paul McCartney writing music for Bungie’s new game

The latest stop in the long and winding career of Sir Paul McCartney is one that no one saw coming.

The legendary musician has announced he’s presently working with game developer Bungie on an unannounced project, which is widely expected to be the company’s new game (currently codenamed Destiny).

Viacom sells Rock Band maker Harmonix

Harmonix, the company behind the successful “Rock Band” and “Dance Central” franchises, is no longer a part of the Viacom empire.

Viacom, which announced plans to shed itself of the division last month, has sold the division to an investment management firm which will return Harmonix to its independent roots.

Beatles come to iTunes

Apple has filled one of the biggest holes in the iTunes catalog. The Beatles catalog is now available for download.

After years of teasing, disappointment and back and forth, the Cuppertino-based company (which has become one of the most powerful forces in the music industry) and the iconic band have come to terms. It’s unclear at this time whether Apple secured exclusive digital rights to the band’s songs or if EMI, The Beatles’ record company, will be striking similar deal with other providers.
