Just months after moving the PlayStation 
into the cell phone world, Sony is adding tablet computers to its repertoire.
The company has launched its first tablets — both of which will come equipped with the PlayStation Suite allowing owners to play first generation PlayStation games. Like the Xperia Play (aka the ‘PlayStation Phone’), the tablets use the Android operating system. They’re expected to hit store shelves this fall.
There are plenty of head-shaking remakes 
of retro games in the works (a modern-day BurgerTime? Really?), but another batch of bizarre games hearken back to equally nostalgic television shows and films. Not Citizen Kane, Casablanca and The Dick Van Dyke Show — we’re talking about pop culture staples from the 80s and 90s, of course.
Here are six of the strangest.
It’s official. Nintendo will have a 
new home console in stores next year.
The company confirmed the rumors Monday morning, saying it would have a playable version on display at this year’s E3 trade show in June. That’s also when the company plans to announce details on what will make the unnamed system notably different from its predecessor and competing systems.
Everyone loves a good story. The problem 
is, some of the best ones are totally false.
That’s especially true in the prone-to-exaggeration world of video games, which is rife with kooky legends and inaccurate information. As it turns out, however, some of the tallest tales are perfectly legitimate. Read on as we confirm or bust some of the biggest myths in gaming.
When Nintendo announced Super Mario was on the
way to the 3DS in March, the company didn’t offer a lot of details.
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s global president, tossed out a logo (which had a tail), showed a few screen shots and said we’d hear more at E3. It was a frustrating tease for fans.
Department stores are littered with 
perfumes and colognes that can make you smell like everything from a field of wildflowers to Beyoncé. But what’s the best scent for the gaming geek?
Calvin Klein’s ‘Obsession’ might be perfect for the die-hard fanboys, but if you’re all about role-playing games, a better choice might be the RPG line of perfumes from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab that lets you smell like an orc, elf, dwarf or other fantasy game standard.
The PSP Go is PSP 
Gone.
After a flurry of rumors Tuesday, Sony has confirmed that the PSP Go’s life is coming to an end. The company plans to stop production of the handheld device that relies solely on downloadable content, opting instead to focus on the upcoming NGP – Next Generation Portable.
On paper, the PSP Go seemed like a great idea: A slick portable gaming device that let players download titles digitally without having to visit a retail store.
In reality, though, it hit just about every imaginable stumbling block. As a result, the system failed to catch on with consumers — and now it appears it’s going away for good.
It’s too early to know whether the infamous Madden 
Curse will hit this year’s cover athlete, but if the wave of recent troubles related to the football franchise is any indication, the hex might be working its mojo on Electronic Arts itself.
Already concerned with how the seemingly unavoidable lockout of the real NFL season will affect sales of the upcoming Madden 12, the company has seen a number of key personnel depart Madden maker EA Tiburon in the past few days, which raises some questions about what fans can expect in 2013.
The Wii has never been the 
workhorse console of this generation.
To keep it affordable and attractive to a mass market audience, Nintendo eschewed high definition graphics and, for the most part, online play when it was introduced. Five years later, though, it’s showing its age. And if online reports are to be believed, the company is ready to pull the curtain back on its next console system.
