A newspaper circular for GameStop’s holiday deals has leaked onto the web — and if’ you’re in the market for an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, the retailer has some terrific deals in store. Zelda fans, meanwhile, will be able to get their hands on a bundle they’ve only been able to admire from afar.
The company will drop the price of its popular DS Lite portable system to $99.99 on Sunday June 5. That $30 cut is the first time Nintendo has adjusted the system’s price since 2006.
On some levels it makes plenty of sense. Today’s game machines are four and five years old — historically the point at which the next generation makes its debut — but still carry pretty hefty prices, especially for mass consumers. And after last year’s disappointing sales figures, the industry could use a big rebound.
