Nintendo’s Wii U: All Hype? Or Saving Grace?

It’s shaping up to be a very Nintendo holiday season.

This Sunday’s launch of the Wii U, the first of the next generation videogame consoles, seems all set to follow the script that most new gaming systems follow: A huge rush of initial sales, followed by weeks of people camping outside of stores on weekends in hopes of grabbing one before Dec. 25.

The question is: What happens after the holidays are over?

PlayStation 4: What Sony Should and Shouldn’t Do

Sony has made it pretty clear: The PlayStation 4 will not be a topic of discussion at this year’s E3.

That’s taken the wind out of the sails of the rumor mill, but just because the system won’t be introduced at this point doesn’t mean work isn’t already underway. Whether it bows in 2013, 2014 or even later, Sony’s going to have to work hard to top the features of the PS3. As we did last month with the next generation Xbox, we’ve got a few humble suggestions about what Sony should – and shouldn’t – do with its next console.

Confirmed! Wii successor coming in 2012

It’s official. Nintendo will have a new home console in stores next year.

The company confirmed the rumors Monday morning, saying it would have a playable version on display at this year’s E3 trade show in June. That’s also when the company plans to announce details on what will make the unnamed system notably different from its predecessor and competing systems.
